Google Ads and Local Services Ads for roofers

Catch the people who already know they have a problem.

Somebody with water coming through a ceiling, a dead air conditioner or a broken tooth does not browse. They search, they call the first business that answers, and they book. I run Google Search and Local Services Ads for roofers and home-service contractors in Dallas–Fort Worth, and I measure them on those calls.

What I manage in your Google Ads account.

01

Search campaigns

One topic per ad group, so keyword, ad and landing page all say the same thing. That is what drives Quality Score, and Quality Score is what makes you cheaper than the contractor outbidding you.

02

Local Services Ads

The Google Guaranteed block above everything else. Ranked by review volume and response speed rather than bid, which makes your answer rate a ranking factor.

03

Call tracking, not form tracking

Most accounts in this trade measure form fills only, so every job that came in by phone is missing from the report. Both call types are tracked as primary conversions, with a 60-second minimum.

04

Negative keywords, aggressively

Job seekers, students, DIY, parts buyers, other trades. The list is built before a dollar goes out, not after.

What I will not do.

You can check all four in your own account from day one.

  • Run Performance Max on a new account before there is data to steer it
  • Leave the Display Network on; it defaults to on and drains budget quietly
  • Leave location targeting on “presence or interest”, which serves other states
  • Report clicks and impressions when the number is cost per booked inspection

What it takes to work.

A real monthly budget on your own card, in your own account. Below a certain floor the algorithm never gets enough conversion data to learn, and you pay for an education nobody receives. I will tell you that floor before you spend anything.

Google Ads management: common questions

Yours. The budget is charged by Google directly to your card, in an account you own. I never run ad spend through my own accounts, and the account stays with you.
Measurement is on from day one, but a new account takes 4–8 weeks to settle. What counts as a conversion is a real call or a qualified form, not a click.
Yes. Below a certain level the algorithm cannot collect enough conversion data to learn from, and you pay for training nobody receives. I tell you that floor before you spend anything.
Not on a new account, before there is data to steer it. I start with Search campaigns limited to the area you actually serve.
No. The first 90 days are month-to-month with no commitment, and either side can cancel with 30 days’ written notice.

Ads first, or answering first?

Usually answering. Ninety days of call data makes every campaign measurably better.
